YouTube emulates TikTok and subscribers can test new features!
We've kind of gotten used to social networks copying each other. After the big fuss with Stories, this time it's TikTok's short videos. If you don't have them, you might as well pack up your business. At least that's what YouTube thinks, which is following Instagram's lead and adding a similar feature to its platform.
YouTube Shorts
Not long ago, Instagram adopted a similar TikTok format, calling it Reels. In doing so, it works virtually the same way as TikTok and, more recently, YouTube. You upload (or record) a short video to the app, add effects and music, and post it. You can also add licensed music as part of the editing, and YouTube promises there's more than enough of it. Watching YouTube Shorts, as YouTube has dubbed the feature, is done full-screen, with the elements for comments and likes found at the bottom.
YouTube's new feature openly tries to copy the more successful apps that have dominated the internet in recent years. The reason for the inclusion of YouTube Shorts seems so clear, Google wants to prevent users from leaving for other platforms. S This is also related to the promotion the company wants to draw attention to its news (users without the Premium version have a lot to look forward to).YouTube Shorts is currently heading to Android phones in India, followed by iOS and eventually to other countries around the world.
Testing new features on YouTube
YouTube is trying to pamper its premium users in every way. Now, in addition to accessing YouTube Music and watching ad-free videos, you can try out new features that Google has yet to release.
Google is serious about the new features. For that very reason, it has added a new section for subscribers to try out upcoming new features and submit feedback based on their own experiences.
Premium users can now try out other tweaks in addition to the ability to play in the background or in a pop-up window. While these are small things for now, YouTube promises that they will become major features over time!
Currently, fans can try voice search on the web in Chrome (available until October 20, 2020), new personalized themed filters in Spanish, French, or Portuguese (available until October 27, 2020), or watch videos with audio without leaving your home screen (available until October 20, 2020). All tests are time-limited and will be evaluated by Google once they are completed.
As a result, this could be a really interesting move by Google that could attract new users and give existing ones the feeling that they can change their platform in their own image.
