Which social networks are suitable for your business?

Social networks have become part of our personal and professional lives. They are an ingenious and very cheap way for companies to communicate with their customers, to present their goods, to showcase their company behind the scenes. Businesses are closer to their audience and since social networks also offer the possibility of paid advertising, almost everyone uses them today.

So social networks are a great servant for companies, you just need to choose the right channel, then success is almost guaranteed and you can be sure that thanks to "socks" you can bring the customer to the target. For an e-shop such a goal is for example a purchase, for other companies it can be installing an application, or just visiting a site and reading an article.

The possibility of using social networks for business marketing

The first question is what you expect from a social network. There are many possible uses and you will need different platforms for different purposes. The most common uses are definitely:

  • Building a brand- where you are trying to create a loyal community of brand users who will further spread content about the brand and company events.
  • Internal communication - social media is also a great tool to share information within the company.
  • External communication - building an image externally. You have the opportunity to share news about the company, information about future developments and the direction of the company.
  • Support - thanks to social networks you get very close to the customer and you can also use this channel for customer support, creating FAQs...

So how do you know which network is right for you?

It's very individual. What works for one person will burn for another. Even so, it's possible to summarise a few simple insights about which target audience is staying on which social network.

Facebook

About a third of Czechs are on Facebook. People go here to spend time, switch off from everyday worries, like to follow their friends, see who is competing and where, are volatile and don't read much, rather they expect entertaining content where they won't have to think too much. People on Facebook are looking for inspiration, fun and ideas, and want to share experiences with others. So, in simple terms, you could say that Facebook is not an intellectual social networking site.

In addition to its huge popularity and number of users, Facebook also offers great information about its users (age, gender, when they post the most, what they like the most). This makes it very easy to target your paid advertising. Facebook will certainly work great for businesses that have interesting photos, ideas, post information about what has happened, taken place or is yet to take place where. Companies that are very active on the internet will love this social network.

Instagram

Instagram is a genius communication channel for creatives who love beautiful photos, they can sell their goods just by styling their products beautifully. Instagram could be considered as such a prime example of the social networks of recent times. It currently holds the third position in the market and is doing a great job of reaching out to a younger target group through the very popular Instagram Stories. This network has great growth potential - about 46% of Czech internet users admit to having experience with Instagram, which is 6% more than last year. Compared to Facebook, Instagram does not offer as many promotional opportunities and paid advertising campaigns. Still, this social network should not be forgotten.

Twitter

When you look at who's on Twitter, you'll see that it's a network that's more techy and you'll find a lot of AI people and marketeers. Twitter is more built on personal branding. Users follow interesting personalities, often ask questions here and expect help from other users.

Twitter will work great for companies targeting new technologies and marketing. Remember that people are not primarily here for entertainment, but are curious and eager for information. They want to read articles, click through content, and on average are a bit older and have no problem with English.

LinkedIn

This largest professional network is based on work contacts. Its aim is to build a network of current or former colleagues who are close to your industry and can therefore help you in your work, you can discuss problems or successes. At the same time, this network is great for when you are looking for new employees or would like to try out a new position.

In the Czech Republic, LinkedIn is largely populated by men and younger users. Most of them are in the information technology sector. People go to Facebook to have fun, while professionals are employed on LinkedIn. Although you can find potential customers on this network as well, LinkedIn is mainly used to build reputation and spread the word about yourself.
