We have JavaScript in our little fingers

We at Railsformers are constantly striving to improve and develop our skills. That's why our IT specialists attended the "JavaScript Tools" course in Brno. JavaScript is undoubtedly one of the most widely used web programming languages.

The Brno course was led by one of the most experienced Czech-Slovak javascript developers Riki Fridrich. The experienced lecturer has tested a plethora of tools that have been created around JavaScript in his career and decided to pass on his experience. Attending his course will save an IT specialist days of testing and searching for the best tool.

Participants gained experience in using basic tools for running, organizing and evaluating tests (e.g. Karma, Mocha, Chai) as well as various other useful tools (e.g. Code coverage, code quality and complexity). One of the most anticipated parts of the course was JavaScript testing and testing tools. No project can do without testing nowadays, so this part was very interesting for us," our colleague Lukáš Kamp shared his impressions of the course.

The course included practical testing of Babel, which is used to transpile code written according to ECMAScript 6 so that it works in older browsers. In addition to the above, Riki Fridrich also included a very interesting topic of script automation in his presentation. In addition, the participants could try on their laptops the NPM and YARN packaging systems, which no project can do without nowadays. In the final part of the course, attendees learned code refactoring, simple and automatic writing, documentation generation and working with Linting for automatic formatting, which helps to keep the code in a consistent style.
