Popular Stories also on YouTube
Instagram started with them, followed by Facebook and later YouTube itself. Stories gained popularity at an almost meteoric pace. This way of less formal communication with followers has conquered the world of social networks. But how will they fare on the internet's biggest video sharing site?
For most social media users, Stories is primarily known from Instagram. They allow you to share as many moments from your life as possible, provided they are deleted after 24 hours. YouTube has opted for a longer display period: seven days. In addition, viewers have the opportunity to debate them in the comments section. It is also convenient to place "stories" on YouTube. In fact, users come across individual Stories in more than one place: in addition to the standard YouTube homepage, they can also find them in the list of algorithmically recommended clips, which extends the potential reach of Stories.
Stories certainly don't need a lengthy introduction... Most of us have encountered them on a social network. But how do you create them on YouTube?
- Sign in to YouTube on your mobile phone.
- Tap the camera icon and click on Story.
- Tap the shutter button to take a photo or hold it down to take a video.
- Add effects such as music, filters, stickers or text. You can also crop the story or save it to your camera album.
- Click Publish.
You can also add video to your story by selecting it from your mobile device. The Stories feature is currently in beta. You must have more than 10,000 subscribers to make it available. But be patient, once you have them, it can take up to four weeks for the feature to appear.
Temporary multimedia albums have seen a significantly positive response on Snapchat and Instagram, Facebook has so far failed to popularise them among its users. Which way will YouTube Stories go?
