Master Mailchimp and create emails that engage

Are email campaigns part of your daily bread? If so, you must have faced the choice of which emailing tool to choose in the past. There are of course a number of them, but since one of the most used ones is MailChimp, we'll focus on it today.

Setting logo in email header

Creating a newsletter is not difficult. But first things first. You log into the app and select Templates

from the top bar.

In the next step, you click on the Create Template checkbox. You have a large number of pre-configured templates to choose from. So choose the one that suits your email type best.

Now you're getting to the actual template setup. On the left you can see what the newsletter looks like and on the right you can edit it. Ideally, start right from the top by setting up your company logo. Hover your mouse over the logo and click on the pencil icon. This will take you to the logo settings.

To insert your logo, click Replace on the right. This will open another page where you can see all the images you have uploaded. If you want to upload a completely new logo, you need to click Upload. Then you will find the image of the logo you want to upload on your computer. Ideally, use a logo that has a transparent background. The logo will be saved immediately to the desired location.

When you hover your mouse over the left side of the screen (where you have newly uploaded your logo), you will see the option to select a background. We can choose a Color or insert an Image.

Again, you will be taken to the image manager and after clicking on Upload, you can upload any image from your computer that will be the background of the newsletter.

Now it's time to insert your own text instead of the default "Showcase your products". You can edit the text by hovering over the caption again, where you will see a pencil icon. You can now edit the caption on the right side of the screen. If you do not want the banner in the newsletter at all, you can delete it by clicking on the trash can icon.

If you don't want to delete the inscription, you can overwrite the original text. You can also choose the colour of the inscription. Simply select the text with your mouse and click on the underlined letter A icon to see the colour palette.

Now all you have to do is save your changes by clicking Save and Close.

If you don't like the position of the lettering and would like it to be above the logo, for example, then just hover over the lettering and drag it to the selected location.

Post Settings

In your first email, you'll definitely want to choose an interesting image. Again, just click on the pencil icon at the top right.

And the process is basically repeated almost exactly the same as uploading a logo image. So on the right you click Replace, then Upload, at which point you select the image you want. You can edit the text below the image again via the pencil icon.

On the right you will see the original text, which you can format (bold, italic, text color, choose alignment...). And when you're done, you can save all your edits again by clicking the Save and Close button at the bottom of the page.

Edit CTA button

The last edits will be to the button you want to call the user to some action. This can be a button that directs the reader to the full article or perhaps to the e-shop.

In the Button text field, you change the caption in the button. In the second field, you choose where you want to link (web, email, folder). And the third line allows you to insert the URL where you want to link the reader. Finally, be sure to save everything.

You can edit all the remaining parts of your newsletter in the same way. Add images or videos. The possibilities are endless :-).

Setting the email footer

The last part to tweak is the footer. By default, it has this shape:

Copyright © *|CURRENT_YEAR|* *|LIST:COMPANY|*, All rights reserved.

*|IFNOT:ARCHIVE_PAGE|* *|LIST:DESCRIPTION|*

Our mailing address is:

*|HTML:LIST_ADDRESS_HTML|* *|END:IF|*

Want to change how you receive these emails?

You can update your preferences or unsubscribe from this list.

*|IF:REWARDS|* *|HTML:REWARDS|* *|END:IF|*

You only need to change the English names, which we have bolded in this article. Be careful not to accidentally remove the "update your preference" and "unsubscribe from this list" links when editing.

That's it, your first newsletter is ready. You can always find it in the Template tab.

Creating emails that engage readers will now be a breeze for you. And if you do need help, contact us, we'll be happy to take care of everything.
