Do you remember what our lives were like before the advent of Instagram? Let alone remember what our lives were like on social media before Instagram came along with Stories?
It might be worth dividing Instagram into the "before Stories" and "after Stories" periods. Back when users of the most influential social network called Facebook were just getting acquainted with Instagram, Instagram was more or less just for sharing photos. But that time is long gone. Not only do today users on Instagram showcase fancy design images, have the ability to apply a plethora of different filters, but thanks to the birth of InstaStories, one can use GIFs, tag other @profiles, tag products, actively use #hashtags, embed music, create polls, ask questions with the ability for users to answer, and much more.
In the "pre-Stories" era, Instagram faced a problem: users weren't spending enough time on the network. To be more specific, they spent only 15 to 21 minutes a day on Instagram compared to the time they spent on YouTube, Facebook and Snapchat. But then came a breakthrough in the form of Instagram Stories and a small revolution took place.
Today, Stories are a big part of the user experience on Instagram. If you think about your personal behaviour on the network, you're also likely to be one of those users who play Stories straight through instead of scrolling through their feed. Instagram itself is trying to push Stories everywhere it can. They're next to the profile icon in the feed. They're in the Explore page. And they're sometimes even as recommendations in the feed of posts.

What is an instastory and how to implement it?
Instagram Story is basically a kind of board that you pin photos and videos to. These stories will be visible to other users for 24 hours. They are displayed from oldest to newest.
How to do it? It's simple and intuitive. You add your Story using the Camera icon on the top left. If you haven't added a Story in 24 hours, then you can also add one via your profile icon with + (Your Story).
What can you do with a photo or video you've taken? There's no shortage :-)
- You can add text
- You can "paint" with three kinds of lines and a couple of dozen colors
- You can choose from a large menu of filters
- You can add stickers, gifs, polls, questions...
