Google will allow users to turn off ads
A new section in the Google Display Ads settings will allow users to turn off these ads. Companies using remarketing will have to find other ways to make their campaigns effective.
In late January, Google unveiled expanded options for setting the ads shown to users. Users will now be able to choose which ads they want to see and which ones Google no longer shows them. The changes will affect particularly remarketing, i.e. retargeting people who have already visited the advertisers' websites in the past (e.g. an e-shop).
The new section in the settings is called Your Reminder Ads. Here, users can see which companies are currently listed in Google's databases for targeted advertising. They will be able to set which ones they no longer wish to see their retargeted ads from, not only in the browser but also in other apps that are part of Google's ad network.
The change will fundamentally affect the behavior of advertisers, who will have to choose their remarketing strategy more carefully. However, with other marketing trends and various tweaks, they will be able to set up campaigns to perform with the same or even better performance. We follow these trends and innovations, so we are happy to advise you in this area. Feel free to contact us.
