Eurucamp 2014
Eurucamp 2014 aims to attract new presenters and get them on stage with their own presentation, or experienced speakers to learn new techniques for their presentation. If you haven't presented before, or are thinking of changing your presentation skills, this conference is for you.
Eurucamp is a Ruby event. You can expect presentations on Ruby topics of interest to members of the Ruby community. This community always expects and welcomes interesting presentations of news from the world of programming. Topics related to the social aspects of programming are also welcome. There is also an opportunity to present news and insights from the Rails community. Space is also allocated for workshops and moderated discussions. You can choose which of the options you want to use, whether a presentation, a workshop or a discussion.
Eurucamp 2014 has a sophisticated mentoring program, which ensures that every attendee has the opportunity to approach one of the many mentors of the program with a question or idea. By registering, each mentor commits to helping at least one speaker with presentation preparation and speaking.
Presentation registration will be open until May 1, 2014. Eurucamp will be held in Berlin today, August 1-3, 2014.
Speaker Selection
- Absolute anonymity is ensured so that there can be no fear of bias against any of the candidates.
- Two rounds of voting:
- In the first round, topics for presentation are rated on a scale of 1 to 10
- in the second round, the top 50 submissions are divided into three groups ("hmm", "hooray", "wow")
- De-anonymization - which means that the evaluators are familiar with the presenters' profiles, thus rotating new presenters from experienced ones.
All presentations are conducted in English.
Presentations should be between 15 and 30 minutes. In some cases, presentation time may be increased. In that case, due to the large number of presentations and some time pressure, it is advisable for each candidate to indicate the total time of their presentation.
Original Topics. One of the paths the program wants to take is to move the Eurucamp community forward. This cannot be achieved by having the same people presenting on the same topics over and over again. Original ideas and original information from the world of Ruby and Rails is preferred. If you have a topic that you have already presented on somewhere, it is advisable to at least vary it a bit and add a new dimension, something extra unique.
All presentations will be recorded and posted online for free, along with uploading each slide of the presentation. All of this is organized to expand the Ruby community and its awareness. Your presentations will not be used for promotional purposes and will only be published with your permission.
Eurucamp 2014 is a summer conference with plenty of free time for socializing and many opportunities to come up with your own ideas.
