Do you create content on YouTube? You'll get better
YouTubers and other creators will be given the opportunity to augment their YouTube revenue with paid memberships or direct sales of merchandise.
YouTube, the world's most famous video-sharing site, is changing its advertising terms. The upcoming changes will expand the revenue streams of many content creators on the site.
These creators include mainly so-called YouTubers, but may also include others who upload videos to YouTube. At present, these creators derive their income primarily from the ads that parent company Google places in front of videos. These will now be supplemented by so-called Channel Memberships.
What are Channel Memberships?
It's essentially a paid membership to a given creator's community of viewers. YouTube plans to offer this option for creators who have more than 100,000 subscribers in the next few weeks. There are estimated to be dozens of such channels in the Czech Republic.
The portal will also now be able to sell memorabilia directly below the video.
