What do Czechs search for on the internet?
Data from Seznam.cz Search show that Czechs searched the most on the internet in 2018 for information about what was happening on social networks. In particular, they were interested in information that in some way related to personalities of the Czech social and political scene.
When it comes to which social platform was asked the most questions, we would bet on YouTube. The number of terms entered climbed to over 30 million. Generally speaking, this is nothing new. It's been a long-standing trend that people enter more general terms into search engines than directly specific artists or song titles. The only exception is children's cartoons, where, in addition to tractors, the Peppa Pig and Pat and Mat series lead in searches.
On Twitter, Czechs are interested in politics and sport for a change, with the most searched terms being the accounts of former councillor and blogger Petr Paulczynski, who came to attention when, as a member of the ODS and Brno councillor, he started publishing extremist texts on his website. In the political sphere, the account of Jiří Ovčáček, the spokesman for the Czech president, and the account of Miroslav Kalousek, the chairman of TOP 09, are also among the most wanted.
The Czechs are very fond of peeking into the private lives of domestic celebrities. For the second year in a row, Leoš Mareš leads in popularity, but model Simona Krainová or Dara Rolins are also popular.
