Blog.cz is over. Will other blogs be replaced by social networks?
In mid-August 2020, one big blogging platform, Blog.cz, ended. The service was officially terminated on 16.8.2020 with the decision of the operator Michal Illich.
The termination of the Blog.cz platform is by no means an isolated event. Nearly eight years ago, the same fate befell the free Bloguje.cz server. Even then, there was controversy that the blog era would soon be supplanted by modern social networks, and today we are a little closer to that theory again.
On August 16, 2020, the Blog.cz and Gallery.cz gates closed for good. The reason was said to be the high drop in users and obsolescence, which does not belong in the fast-growing online world. Moreover, young users today are much more inclined to social networks such as Instagram, Tik Tok or YouTube, where they do not create text content, but videos that offer a more effective way to engage their fans.
The Success of Blog.comBlog.cz was launched in early August 2005. It was founded by entrepreneur Michal Illich (the original owner of Jyxo.cz), who at the time was competing with only Bloguje.cz or Blogger.com.
Blog.cz deserved its success mainly because it was simpler and more reliable than the aforementioned competitors. While it didn't allow major changes to the look and feel, but only slight colour customization, on the other hand, it had an elegant editor and wasn't plagued by any glitches. As a result, Blog.cz was especially popular with "ordinary" users who wanted to publish their posts quickly and easily.
Functional blogging platforms
Happily, with the closure of Blog.cz, all the fun doesn't end for enthusiastic writers. There are still a large number of sites where you can publish your works. We've selected the most common ones for your review.
