Czechs and social networks

Facebook remains the most popular social network in the Czech Republic

Facebook, YouTube, but also Instagram. These are the top three social media sites in the Czech Republic, according to a recent survey. Their importance for digital marketing is definitely not decreasing.

Facebook is one of the best known and most used social networks in the Czech Republic this year, followed by the video portal YouTube. This is one of the conclusions of the AMI Digital Index survey, conducted this April by AMI Digital in cooperation with STEM/MARK.

Gold for Facebook

Facebook is known by 99% of internet users, and YouTube by 98%. Instagram has grown in popularity compared to last year, with 92% of internet users already knowing it this year, with 46% of respondents admitting to personal experience with the social media site.

“The Instagram has been the dominant social networking site of late. It is currently number three in the market and with its new Instagram Stories format, it is succeeding in reaching a younger target group while increasing the activity of existing users. This is a key factor for social networks,” said AMI Digital CEO Vladan Crha.

Instagram on the rise

It can be expected that Instagram’s popularity will grow even more. In fact, people most often identified it as the network they do not rule out using in the future.

The total number of Czechs who already use one of the social media platforms is also growing. Last year it was only 69% of internet users, this year it is already 80%. The amount of time Czechs spend on the networks is also growing.

“This is primarily due to the ever-expanding content that social media offers. But it is also due to the growth of online literacy in the population and new formats, such as Instagram and Facebook Stories or Whatsapp Status,” explained Marek Stránský, Managing Partner of AMI Communications Group.
