Czech IoT Summer Jam
The competition ran from June 14 to November 15, 2016, and was open to individuals and companies in the Czech Republic. The goal of the competition was to create a prototype application that would process data from sensors, transmitted using LoRa technology. Sensors were placed in interesting locations so that processing their data could yield useful, practically applicable results. It was up to the participants to decide how to use the data and how to process it — there were no limits to their imagination.
What conditions did the application prototype have to meet?
- the application had to be able to process sensor data transmitted over the LoRa network
- sensors were placed by the competition organizer; participants had the opportunity to suggest interesting locations where sensors could be added during the competition
- development took place under the GNU/GPL license, i.e. as open source
During the competition, participants had room to exercise their own creativity, ideas and technical skills.
How was the competition judged?
The application was judged by an expert panel made up of representatives from Czech universities, representatives of Czech Radiocommunications, and editors of technical periodicals. Not only the idea itself was evaluated, but also the technical execution of the application.
