Instagram introduces a Mute feature - a sort of "small block"
Are you annoyed by a particular user's posts but for some reason don't want to remove them from your Instagram account? Thanks to the new Mute feature, you'll still be able to follow them, but you won't be able to see their posts on your wall.
On Instagram, you'll now be able to mute profiles that annoy you but that you don't want to stop following. The feature is simply called Mute and Facebook, which owns the social network, will roll it out to all active accounts in the coming weeks.
What does that mean?
The Mute feature is already familiar to Facebook users. It's basically a sort of "little block" that puts a stop to annoying posts by specific users. With Mute, all of that user's posts will stop appearing on your wall without you having to remove them from your profile.
Unlike removal, this user will not be aware of your activity and you will be able to view their profile (and possibly disable the feature) at any time.
How do I do that?
If you want to mute an account, view their profile and select the three dots (options) symbol in the top right corner. Select Mute from the subsequent menu. From the next menu, choose whether you want to stop viewing only Posts or Stories.
