Web Summit 2014

Last week we attended the largest European technology conference of the year, held in Dublin. The whole event was truly spectacular, and in numbers it can be summed up as follows: 65,000 tweets, 22,000 attendees, 1,300 startups, a thousand journalists, and a hundred different countries — all within just three days. Everything was organized into several tracks, one of which consisted of talks and discussions by people sharing their own business experience. The best-known speakers included Bono, Tony Hawk, Eva Longoria, Rio Ferdinand, and others.

The second, equally attractive event running in parallel was the startup booth presentations, in which we also took part with our product, Hedurio. At the conference, it was possible to meet many investors from many countries, which is especially valuable for startup companies, offering a great way to gain valuable experience and business partners. We experienced this firsthand when we spoke with investors and outlined together the possibilities of bringing Hedurio to foreign markets, as well as potential opportunities for cooperation. Around 400 startups presented each day, and the flow of visitors, investors, media and speakers was enormous. This didn’t get in the way of the great atmosphere and the visible enthusiasm in everyone’s eyes, though. For that, we have to thank the organizers of Web Summit 2014, who did their utmost to ensure the event ran smoothly, with a trained staff member always nearby, ready to help with anything.

As already mentioned, the conference was attended by a large number of startups from many countries. Because of this, we were very pleased that we didn’t come across a competing project addressing the same or a similar issue — managing security agencies using a cloud-based software system. It only confirmed once again that our product is genuinely unique and targets a specific market and its target customers.

We left Dublin with several valuable contacts, as well as insights into what to focus more on, both in presenting the product and in its subsequent development and upgrades. For those of you wondering which conference to choose for presenting your product, and where to gain plenty of valuable experience and contacts, Web Summit in Dublin is the obvious choice. The atmosphere here is truly great, and the people are even better. As a company, we can say that Web Summit was definitely valuable for us and has definitely moved us forward.
