According to a recent STEM/MARK survey, only a slight majority of Czechs have ever heard of the General Data Protection Regulation. They are often misinformed about its impact.
Only six out of ten Czechs have ever heard of the GDPR and those who have heard of the new regulation often have misconceptions about it. This was revealed in a recent STEM/MARK survey for Mailkit.
Of the roughly 1,000 respondents surveyed, nearly half (45%) believe the GDPR is related to the ability to unsubscribe from emails, 36% think it is related to filing a complaint against the sender, and 34% believe it is related to the enforceability of the ban on email solicitations.
According to the survey, the majority of Czechs (68%) believe that in the area of email communication, the GDPR is furthermore related to the enforceability of the prohibition on obtaining an email address without the person’s consent. Mailkit clarifies that it is possible to obtain an email address without consent, it is just not possible to use it to send commercial communications without consent.
The survey was conducted online this April and involved 1,007 Czechs aged 18-59.
